Maxi on Track

My trip to my home country Nigeria in earlier this year was incredible! Typically, my time in Lagos, Nigeria is spent attending parties, weddings, and meeting up with friends. This time, I wanted to experience Lagos! I wanted to soak in the vibe and truly enjoy the beauty of the city that bred me. So, before I left the US, I made a list of places I wanted to visit, and Jaekel House Museum at the Nigerian Railway Compound topped my list. The reason this tourist site rated high on my list is personal. My mom grew up on this compound and my grandfather (I never met him) worked for the Railway Corporation.

Unfortunately, the Jaekel House museum which showcases the history and artifacts of the Nigerian Railway Corporation was closed for the holidays. This was a a tad disappointing, as I was looking forward to soaking myself in the 112 year history of the railway system. However, the railway compound offered an amazing backdrop for picture taking. As you can see below, the scenery was dope and my blue taffeta maxi skirt and white tshirt fit right in with the beautifully rugged ambiance.

Saw this pile of old tires and thought they'd make great props for a photoshoot

What do you guys think of the Nigerian Railway Compound? Dope, right? Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Have a great week chicas.

Green wall fun & ice cream in Barcelona

Hey guys, happy New Year. Thought I'd start the year with these fun pictures I took in Barcelona.

I was taking a stroll through the beautiful Gracia district when I came across this neon green wall and grafitti doorway. I am obsessed with colorful backdrops and I could not resist posing and goofing off in front of this vibrant wall.

The pictures look like they are for an urban streetwear brand, nah? Enjoy...

...and a hilarious jump fest ensued

...and of course, it is only proper to indulge in icecream after a major jump fest.
Looks like someone is hating on tourists!

Have a fab Thursday guys.

Greacian goddess, Martin Luther King Jnr Historical Site, Atlanta et al

I attended a wedding in Atlanta this past weekend. Since I had never been to the Peach State I set aside some time to sight see. Martin Luther King Historical site was a must -do on my list, and the morning before the wedding, I visited the district.

It was indeed surreal visiting Ebenezer Baptist Church, the place where MLK grew up and gave many speeches. As luck would have it, I caught a live reenactment of one of his speeches at the church. I also checked out the freedom hall which houses many of MLKs memorabilia, and I got goose bumps by just looking at the actual clothing this iconic freedom fighter wore!

I wish I had more time to spend in the MLK Jnr. Historical Site, but I had to  rush off to take the preparatory pictures of the bride (hopefully she'll let me share them on the blog ).

Below are the pictures I took. Enjoy...

Have a fabulous day chicas!

Florals on the strip

I am a lover of bold and bright prints, but for some reason, I do not like floral prints. However my dislike for florals changed when I saw this scuba skirt in Express. Asides, the beautiful silhouette, the price tag (70% off) was enough reason to buy it. I got the opportunity to wear the skirt in Vegas two weeks ago. It was spring weather in Vegas and the color and print of the skirt was perfect for taking a leisure stroll on the Vegas strip. Check out the pictures below.

Happy hump day.

Maxi at the mosque

This post is a continuation of my Dubai trip and it features my visit to the Jumeirah Mosque. The mosque was one of the top sights on my to-do list and I had also planned to take the mosque tour and learn about the religion and customs of the UAE. However, my friend and I arrived late for the tour and were not allowed access into the mosque. Not one to waste an outfit, I figured we might as well make most of the time and take pictures in the beaded jalabiya we had purchased the night before. Here goes...
